The data center sector is very diverse in the number of functions (see: link to functions in a data center), which means there are many opportunities for people with a technical background. In addition, data centers have become an indispensable part of daily life; they are the physical side of the internet and are therefore also designated as critical infrastructure – we can no longer do without them.
What are the growth opportunities?
The functions within the data center sector are numerous, and so are the opportunities for growth. For example, consider specialization in electrical engineering; this can be in the field of design, construction or commissioning, but also in operations. What salary can I expect?
Just like the diversity in roles, the diversity in salary is also great. As a technical starter you can expect a salary in the region of €3,000 gross per month. As you develop this can increase to €4,000 per month and higher for medior positions and for senior positions above €5,000 per month. Leadership and specialist roles have even higher salaries, but this varies greatly.

Nationally, you will find most data centers in the Amsterdam region, which is one of the largest data center markets in Europe. Other notable locations are Eindhoven, Rotterdam, Middenmeer and Eemshaven. In Europe, in addition to Amsterdam, you will find the largest primary markets in London, Frankfurt, Paris and Dublin. In addition, a lot is being built and developed in countries such as Italy, Spain, Norway, Denmark, Poland and Belgium.
