Our client’s company operates in the data center industry, providing a range of services across the Nordics region, particularly in the construction and management of data centers. They specialize in delivering tailored solutions, including infrastructure development, engineering, and operational support, to meet the growing demands of the data center market in Northern Europe.
We are currently looking for a Health and Safety Officer, who holds Portugal EHS certification to work on the project in Portugal.
Function
• Ensure legal compliance to legislation and safe work methods onsite.
• Be involved in the day-to-day operations onsite to ensure a workplace free from risks to human health & life
• Be the one-point of contact between the HSE Team onsite and the HSE Team GROUP
• Tailor, maintain and communicate HSE documentation onsite.
• Perform induction and onboarding onsite.
• Partner and cooperate with Clients and key stakeholders onsite.
• Be aware of the Risk Profile of the Projects, register them, and coordinate Action Plans and Risk Assessments
• Oversee the implementation and outcomes of Controls and Action Plans
• Follow up identified challenges and function as a mediator in case of misunderstandings/ disagreements
• Coordination and cooperation with Chief HSE Officer GROUP and HR Manager when required.
• Perform, and maintain record, of tool box talks, training sessions and lead meetings on safety related matters
• Plan HSE related projects and events onsite in coordination with the GROUP HSE team and clients
• Ensure safe work conditions for all onsite
• Be an active and positive role model for the Health & Safety work of the company and mirror our HSE Policy
Statement and internal standards
• Be a visible HSE Leader and lead by example onsite
• Effective communication on Health, Safety and Environmental matters with Client, contractors, customers,
visitors and the HSE team
• Execute strategy to build a positive safety culture, Ensure safe systems of work is of Best Practice
• Assist with purchasing (i.e. Personal Protective Equipment, safety related equipment etc)
• Identify probability of upcoming HSE challenges
• Review safety data, trending and reporting
• Perform assessments and audits
• Ensure regular/ structured HSE reporting as decided by the GROUP within due dates
• Escalate challenges/ issues as needed
• Plan and execute HSE projects onsite
• Provide specialist HSE advice, Suggest improvements on site specific and/or system wide HSE issues
• Regularly and actively lead and/or participate in the HSE Team onsite
• Regularly participate in HSE related meetings with the GROUP
• Meet KPI’s, deadlines and targets of the company HSEMS and clients/ other key stakeholders
• Work with the Occupational Health Service Provider appointed by the GROUP
• Cooperate with other entities and affiliates in the company
• Site walks, inspections as needed
Job requirements
• A bachelor’s degree in health and safety or a related field
• Master is desired but not required
• In-depth knowledge of health and safety standards locally as well as International Standards
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to lead and teach a team
• Great attention to detail
• Critical-thinking and problem-solving skills
• Ability to explain technical concepts in simple terms
• Excellent organizational skills
