They are Italy's electrical work qualifications under the CEI 11-27 standard. PES stands for persona esperta, an expert person. PAV is persona avvertita, an informed person. PEI is persona idonea, a person qualified for live working. Which one applies depends on the electrical work your role involves.

The codice fiscale is Italy's tax identification number and is required for employment contracts, payroll and most formal transactions. EU citizens obtain it from the Agenzia delle Entrate with a passport. Non EU candidates receive it during the visa process. It is arranged early because contracts cannot be finalised without it.

Where the position is subject to mandatory health surveillance under Italian occupational safety legislation, the employer's occupational doctor, the medico competente, must assess fitness for the specific work before you start and periodically afterwards. Requirements depend on the role and risk exposure, and electrical work and night shifts commonly trigger them. Where it applies, a foreign certificate does not replace it.

Italy sets annual quotas for non EU workers through the Decreto Flussi, and most work permits have to fit within those quotas and their application windows. Highly qualified engineers may qualify for the EU Blue Card outside the quota. Timing matters more in Italy than in most European markets.
